Water

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

After studying the fellowship of believers in Acts 2 to understand the foundation and simple activities of the early church, I was prompted to take it back to the beginning. All the way back...to Genesis 1.

Before deep diving into the history of creation, let's reflect on our Creator. The Holy Bible starts with "In the beginning, God...". The word in Hebrew used for God in this verse is Elohim. I read that Elohim is plural as a noun and singular as a verb. From that, I deduce that Elohim in this verse reflects who God (noun) is as the Father, Son, and Spirit (plural) and how He operates (verb) as one (singular) in the creation of all things. We understand the Holy Trinity is present as we read about the Spirit of God hovering in verse 2 and Jesus being present based on John 1. And it is here that we begin to see God's eternal power, divine nature, and sovereign creativity. Days 1-5 showcase God's acts of creation as One, yet we are "reminded" of the Holy Trinity in Genesis 1:26

19The truth about God is plain to them. God has made it plain. 20Ever since the world was created it has been possible to see the qualities of God that are not seen. I’m talking about his eternal power and about the fact that he is God. Those things can be seen in what he has made. So people have no excuse for what they do.

Based on my understanding of the text, the earth was filled with water. Why water...better yet, why water first? Here are some things I discovered about water from a natural, scientific, and biblical/spiritual perspective.
